                                    Middletown Symphony

 All students must be a resident of the greater Middletown area served by one of the following high schools:  Middletown, Monroe, Madison, Franklin, Edgewood, Middletown Christian, and Fenwick.  Students may attend a private high school, but must reside in the area designated or be a member of the Middletown Symphony or Middletown Youth Symphony Orchestra.  Students taking private lessons from an area teacher, or those who are home-schooled and live in our area may also apply.

 The scholarships for students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are: 

 1.       The Wilkerson Scholarship is for students studying string instruments.

2.       The Helen G. Ramsdell Scholarship is for students studying voice.

3.       The Reinartz Scholarship is for students studying woodwind or brass instruments

4.       The Leah Kay and Marnie Squire’s Piano Scholarship is for students studying piano.

 

The auditions for high school students will be on Sunday, February 17, 2008.

 The scholarships for students in grades 7, 8, and 9 are:

 1.         The Turvey Scholarship for students studying woodwind instruments.

 2.         The Martin Scholarship for students studying string instruments.

 3.         The Ifcic Scholarship for students studying piano.

 4.         The Middletown Rotary Foundation Scholarship for students studying brass instruments.

 The auditions for students in grades 7, 8, and 9 will be on Sunday, April 18, 2010.

All auditions will be in Fellowship Hall in The Presbyterian Church at 2910 Central Avenue, Middletown.  Parking is permitted on McGee Avenue, and you need to enter the Church from McGee Avenue.  There will be a sign on the door to enter (far right door).  You may also park in the East lot and enter that door (playground equipment right outside the door).

 

Enclosed are copies of the application form.  If you need additional copies of this application, you may make your own, obtain them from Middletown Arts Center (130 N. Verity Pkwy.) or contact Carole Schul (422-9686) or (267-4010). 

For the scholarship auditions on February 7 and April 18, you are to bring three (3) copies of your music for the judges to see during your audition.

Please have available a picture of yourself for the newspaper.

You are to bring three (3) copies of your music for the judges to see during your audition.  All winners will need a picture of themselves for the newspaper.  If you are a Scholarship winner, you will be recognized at the May 15th concert at 8:00 p.m. at Dave Finkelman Auditorium.
